
Terms of Business for Balance Health Pilates and Yoga.
• Instructor Promise: The instructor will arrive on time and ready to start the class as advertised unless circumstances out of their control present themselves. The instructor will treat you with respect and will always behave professionally. The instructor will be fully qualified and will maintain their qualifications in line with industry standards. The instructor will ensure any equipment used in the class is safe and intact. The instructor will teach proper form and technique for all exercises and advise on modifications when required.
• Client Promise: The client will notify the instructor of any illness or health conditions before the beginning of the class. The client will stop at any point if they feel pain or discomfort and inform the instructor immediately. The client will respect the instructor’s guidance and work at the level advised by the instructor. The client will be respectful of the instructor and other class members. If the client does not understand the instructions given, they will ask for further explanation.
• Bookings and Payments: Classes must be booked and paid for termly in advance. You can book and pay through our booking system GymCatch.
• Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel your booking, please do so at least 48 hours in advance of the term starting to receive a full refund.
Should you need to cancel a session within your term booking this must be done in advance of the class through the GymCatch booking system where you will be provided with a refund package. You can then apply this to a different class or on demand content.
• Late Arrivals: If you are late for a class please enter quietly and notify the instructor of any new health conditions you might have. If you are late for a Zoom class the instructor may not let you into the class once it has started, please try to notify the instructor in advance of the class so that they are aware that you are going to access the class late.
• Online Class Requirements: If you are participating in a Zoom class you will need a device with an internet connection and a camera to participate. Check that the area around you is clear of any potential hazards and that you can be seen clearly in the camera and that you can see and hear the instructor clearly throughout the class. Classes will run with the microphone of the participant muted, please ensure you are aware how to unmute should you need to speak to the instructor.
• Technical problems: The instructor is not responsible for any technical difficulties that you may experience with your equipment during online classes. The instructor will do everything in their power to ensure their own equipment is working and with a strong internet connection. Should a class need to be cancelled a video recording will be offered in its place or a credit for a different Zoom class.
• Injuries and Health Conditions: Please let the instructor know of any injuries or health conditions before every class. You must notify the instructor of any changes to the health conditions that you have previously spoken about. During the class it is important that you are aware of your limitations and if the instructor mentions a modification you are advised to apply this to your practice. If you choose not to work at the advised modification it is your responsibility, and the instructor will not be held responsible for further pain or injury that may occur. During a class where a variety of levels are demonstrated it is advised that you work at the lowest level often described as ‘beginner’ or ‘level 1’. Furthermore it is important to note that a Pilates or Yoga instructor is not a qualified health professional therefore you commence your class with the knowledge that this is not a rehabilitation class but a mind and body class that will accommodate your health challenges at your own risk.
• Advanced level: It is advised that you only work at an advanced level when you have completed 2 years of regular Pilates practice and have no health conditions or injuries. In a mixed ability class this will be described as ‘level 4’ or the ‘Highest Level’
• Liability: The instructor is not liable for any injuries or illnesses incurred during class.
• PARQ : You must complete a ParQ form and informed consent form prior to participating in any classes with Balance Health Pilates and Yoga. These can be obtained from the instructor at the start of term or via email for online classes. If you have any injuries it is essential that you check with your doctor before booking and participating in any classes.
• Clothing and Equipment: Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. You will also need a yoga or Pilates mat, props such as blocks, straps, a towel and water.
• Communication: The instructor’s phone will be turned off during the class and they will not be able to be contacted 5 minutes prior to the class starting. Please ensure all mobiles are put on silent during your class.
• Confidentiality: The instructor will always respect your confidentiality.
• Photographs and Video recordings: Some classes will be photographed or recorded for marketing, please notify the instructor in advance if you do not want to be in any photographs or recordings.
Other Terms and Conditions
• Refunds: Refunds will not be given for unused classes.
• Missed Classes: Classes that are missed can be made up within the same term that they are missed. This can be done by attending a different zoom class or face to face class at any point during the term. Once the 6- or 7- week term is finished any missed classes cannot be carried over into the next term.
• Instructor Illness: If the class instructor is unwell, you will be notified by email as soon as possible. You will be provided with the opportunity to attend additional classes at the earliest opportunity. If these are not suitable a recording will be provided to replace the missed class.
Additional Notes
• The instructor may require a consultation before your first class to discuss your needs and goals.
• The instructor may request a consultation at any point throughout the term if they feel you might benefit to meet your needs and goals.
• The instructor may tailor your classes to your individual needs and goals.
• The instructor may make changes to your classes as needed. By booking and attending a class with Balance Health Pilates and Yoga, you agree to the above terms of business. Disclaimer Mat-based Pilates and Hatha Yoga classes are a great way to improve your physical and mental health.
However, it is important to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard. If you experience any pain or discomfort, please stop and rest. If you have any health concerns, please consult with your doctor before starting a mind and body practice.
